Duties
- Build trusting relationships with young people through active listening and engaging conversations
- Support youth in participating in educational, recreational, and social activities
- Assist with planning and facilitating group sessions focused on personal development and life skills
- Provide mentorship and encouragement to help youth set and achieve their goals
- Collaborate with staff and caregivers to ensure a safe and supportive environment
- Observe and report on youth progress, behavior, and any concerns to supervisors
- Promote inclusivity and respect among participants, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all
Skills
- Experience working with children or adolescents in educational or community settings
- Strong teaching abilities to effectively communicate concepts and motivate young people
- Proven mentoring skills with a genuine passion for supporting youth development
- Knowledge of youth work principles, including trauma-informed care and positive reinforcement techniques
- Familiarity with special education needs and strategies for inclusive engagement
- Excellent interpersonal skills to connect with diverse groups of young individuals
- Ability to remain patient, energetic, and proactive in dynamic environments
