We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, organised, and experienced individual to join our team as Cafe Manager at Little Berries Cafe, a brand-new cafe designed for the community, with the extra bonus that we also have a play area for little ones.
As the Cafe Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the cafe and play area, ensuring that customers receive an excellent experience in a fun, safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
You will lead and support the cafe team, coordinate daily operations, manage customer bookings and walk-in visitors, organise special events and activities, maintain high standards of food hygiene and health & safety, and ensure the play area is well managed and suitable for children and families.
This is a hands-on role that will involve working alongside the team, serving customers, supporting families, managing bookings and events, and taking responsibility for the overall operation of the venue.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the cafe and play area
- Check and manage online bookings and reservations
- Organise walk-in customers and manage daily capacity
- Arrange and coordinate special events, parties, and activities
- Create and manage staff rotas, ensuring appropriate staffing levels
- Lead, support, and motivate the cafe team
- Ensure excellent customer service and a welcoming environment for families
- Handle customer queries and resolve any issues professionally
- Oversee food and drink service and maintain high standards
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies
- Ensure the cafe and play area are clean, safe, and well organised
- Ensure food hygiene, health & safety, and operational procedures are followed
- Handle cash and card payments and oversee daily till procedures
- Support the team during busy periods and work hands-on when required
- Help ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the cafe
Skills & Experience
- Previous cafe, hospitality, or management experience is desirable
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Excellent customer service and people skills
- Experience managing bookings, events, and staff rotas is desirable
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently in a busy environment
- Good understanding of food hygiene, health & safety, and cleanliness
- Reliable, positive, and hands-on approach to work
- Ability to lead and motivate a team
- Friendly and confident when working with children and families
- Proactive and able to take responsibility for the smooth running of the cafe
