Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This plays a vital role in supporting the production and Housing with Care team by ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain valuable experience in the hospitality industry while contributing to a high-quality food production facility. This role is 10am-2pm, 3 days out of 7. (12 hours per week, alternate weekends)
Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen, including washing, sanitising, and drying dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
- Ensure all cleaned items are correctly stored in their designated locations, keeping storage areas neat and easy to navigate.
- Assist with the storage and rotation of food items and supplies, ensuring all products are correctly labelled and stored in accordance with food safety standards.
- Keep workstations, sinks, and surrounding areas clean, tidy, and free from obstructions at all times.
- Follow all hygiene, health, and safety regulations, including HACCP and SALSA protocols, ensuring compliance with company and legal standards.
- Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the team immediately.
- Collaborate effectively with chefs, kitchen assistants, and front-of-house staff to support smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
- Carry out additional cleaning or kitchen support duties as directed by the management team.
- Preparing Sandwiches and Salads for customers.
- Packaging and Labelling Food ensuring no products leave the facility damaged.
Skills
- Previous experience in a kitchen is desirable.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment.
- A keen interest in hospitality.
- Ability to work well as part of a team as well as independently when required.
