Experienced 1:1 Learning and Pastoral Support Worker
Location: Quedgeley, Gloucestershire.
Hours: 2 days per week – Thursday and Friday, 8:45am – 4:30pm
Contract: Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate 1:1 Learning and Pastoral Support Worker to join our team from September 2026.
This rewarding role involves supporting a young person aged 16–24 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), enabling them to access educational opportunities and develop independence, confidence and life skills.
The successful candidate will provide consistent educational and pastoral support throughout the day, both on and off site, ensuring the learner is safe, engaged and able to achieve their individual goals.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience of working with young people aged 16–24 with additional needs and/or EHCPs.
- Be confident supporting learners in educational and community settings.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be calm, patient, resilient and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Have a sound understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Be able to work independently whilst also liaising effectively with the wider team and families.

Person Specification
Essential
- Experience of working in a one-to-one support role with young people aged 16–24.
- Experience supporting learners with EHCPs and additional educational or social/emotional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Calm, patient and resilient approach.
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training.
Desirable
- Relevant qualification in Education, Health and Social Care, SEND or Youth Work.
- Experience of working with young people who have complex social and emotional needs, including those at risk of exploitation and those requiring support to build healthy personal relationships.
- Experience supporting autistic young people and/or those with social, emotional or mental health needs.
- Experience of community-based learning or supporting off-site educational activities.
- First Aid qualification.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
