Dental Laboratory Assistant / Trainee & Office Administrator
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and organised Dental Laboratory Assistant / Trainee & Office Administrator to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career within the dental industry, gaining experience in both dental laboratory procedures and office administration.
The successful candidate will support the laboratory team in producing high-quality dental restorations and appliances while also assisting with the day-to-day administrative operations of the business. Full training will be provided where required.
Key Responsibilities
Dental Laboratory Duties
- Assist with the preparation and organisation of dental materials, equipment, and laboratory workstations.
- Support the fabrication of dental restorations and appliances, including crowns, bridges, dentures, retainers, and orthodontic devices under supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with health and safety standards within the laboratory.
- Prepare incoming and outgoing cases for processing and dispatch.
- Assist with quality control checks and packaging of completed work.
- Maintain accurate records of laboratory work and case progress.
- Support stock management, including monitoring and ordering laboratory materials and supplies.
- Communicate effectively with dentists, clinics, and laboratory staff regarding case requirements and deadlines.
Office Administration Duties
- Receive and process incoming dental cases, ensuring all patient and prescription information is accurately recorded.
- Create and maintain digital and physical patient files and case records.
- Enter case information into laboratory management software and update case statuses.
- Prepare invoices, process billing information, and assist with payment tracking.
- Answer telephone calls professionally and respond to email enquiries from dental practices and patients.
- Coordinate case collection and delivery schedules with couriers and dental practices.
- Manage incoming and outgoing post, deliveries, and laboratory documentation.
- Maintain accurate filing systems and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Assist with appointment scheduling, diary management, and general office administration.
- Support management with reporting, data entry, and other administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in administration, healthcare, dental, or laboratory environments is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Professional telephone manner and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Good manual dexterity and willingness to learn laboratory techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics are desirable.

Pay: £24,420.00-£31,000.00 per year
