We are looking for a highly organised and numerate Tronc & Payroll Services Administrator to join our growing Employer Services team at WMT Troncmaster Services, part of Moore Kingston Smith.
This role would suit someone with strong Excel skills, excellent attention to detail and experience working with payroll, finance, data processing, hospitality administration or another fast-paced client service environment.
WMT Troncmaster Services is one of the UK’s leading providers of tronc solutions to the hospitality sector. We work with an impressive portfolio of clients including Michelin‑starred restaurants, celebrity chefs, high‑street hospitality groups and 5‑star hotels, helping them manage the fair and compliant distribution of tips and service charges.
What is a tronc solution? A tronc solution, also known as a tronc system, scheme or arrangement, allows service charges and credit card tips to be collected and distributed fairly to hospitality staff.
You do not need previous tronc experience, as full training on our systems, processes and legislation will be provided. However, this is a data-heavy role, so you will need to be confident working with numbers, Excel spreadsheets, deadlines and client queries.
As a member of the Tronc Administration team, you will:
- Calculate tips, service charges, and other gratuities for employees across high‑profile UK hospitality venues.
- Process and analyse client‑provided data to ensure accurate and timely distribution of awards.
- Work with spreadsheets and large volumes of data, using Excel to check, organise and interpret information.
- Manage tronc‑related budgets following completion of training.
- Respond to client queries and maintain clear, professional communication with businesses.
- Build strong working relationships with an assigned portfolio of clients.
- Use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and internal systems extensively.
- Maintain accurate digital records within a fully paperless filing environment.
- Ensure client documents are correctly indexed, organised and stored.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including confidence using formulas such as VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, IF formulas and Pivot Tables.
- Strong numerical ability and confidence working with data.
- Experience in payroll, finance administration, data processing, hospitality administration or a similar process-driven role.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong time management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- A customer-focused approach, with confident and professional communication skills.
- The ability to follow structured processes while questioning information that appears incorrect.
- A calm, organised and methodical approach to work.
- A willingness to learn specialist tronc processes and legislation.
Payroll experience is not essential, but it would be highly beneficial as the workflow, data accuracy and deadline-driven nature of the role are closely aligned.
Selection process
As part of the recruitment process, candidates may be asked to complete an assessment covering numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning and logic. This helps us understand your suitability for a role that involves working with data, deadlines and detailed client information.
