We are seeking talented bar staff to become an integral part of our Port of Leith Hospitality Division. What you will do:
- Welcome guests with warmth and professionalism, ensuring they feel valued and attended to from the moment they arrive.
- Engage with guests in a friendly and knowledgeable manner, providing whisky recommendations and sharing insights about different varieties and distilleries.
- Continuously monitor and anticipate guest needs, proactively addressing any requests or concerns to ensure a seamless and memorable experience.
- Provide a service that leaves guests feeling delighted.
- Prepare and present all of our beverages to our standards with focus on attention to detail.
- Ensure the work environment is clean, organized, and stocked with an ample supply of ingredients and beverages. Ensure tables, seating areas, and service stations are well-maintained and stocked.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and accurately, maintaining a high level of attention to detail in presentation and quality.
- Adhere to strict allergen procedures, food safety and health & safety procedures.
- Adhere to proper cash handling procedures, accurately processing payments and maintaining records.
- Collaborate with team members and departments to ensure seamless operations and exceptional guest experience including assisting colleagues in other aspects of the bar/restaurant service.
- Assist in setting up and closing down the bar and dining areas, including cleaning, restocking, and preparing for the next service.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new whisky releases, and distillery information to enhance knowledge and provide accurate information to guests.
- Conduct tableside tastings to share whisky knowledge and deepen guests' understanding and appreciation.
- Promote our branded products and exclusive offerings to enhance the guest experience and drive revenue.
- Upsell additional products, such as tasting flights or food pairings, to enhance guests' enjoyment and increase sales.
- Maintain a professional and welcoming demeanour, providing outstanding customer service at all times.
What you will have:
- Proven experience as bar staff in a premium venue.
- Extensive knowledge of whiskies, including different varieties, distilleries, and production processes.
- Proficient in the art of cocktail making, with a strong ability to dispense consistent high quality drinks
- Exceptional customer service skills with a warm and engaging personality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with guests and provide whisky recommendations and education.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and delivering excellent service under pressure.
- Outstanding attention to detail to ensure all presentation meet our standards of excellence.
- Solid understanding of bar operations, including inventory management, stock control, and cash handling procedures.
- Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating with other bar team members and kitchen team members to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest experiences.
- Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by business needs.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and the ability to adhere to them strictly to maintain a safe and clean bar environment.
- A passion for whisky and a genuine desire to share that passion with others.
