Job Overview
We’re looking for a motivated and highly organised Sales & Commercial Co-Ordinatorindividual to become a key part of our commercial team.
This is much more than a traditional sales administration role.
You will sit at the centre of our sales process, helping turn customer enquiries into quotations, quotations into orders, and making sure customers, our sales team and our factory have the information they need throughout the process.
You'll work with customers in the UK and internationally, as well as our parent company Hidral in Spain, helping us grow both our existing passenger lift business and an expanding range of new products.
Who are we?
Passenger Lift Solutions is the UK's leading manufacturer of passenger lifts for accessible vehicles.
Our products help people with mobility needs access everything from taxis and minibuses to ambulances and coaches.
We design and manufacture our products from our facility in Smethwick and supply customers throughout the UK and across international markets.
PLS is part of the Hidral Group, an international lift manufacturer headquartered in Spain, giving us access to a growing range of products, markets and opportunities.
What you'll be doing
You will help coordinate the commercial process from the moment an enquiry arrives through to the customer placing an order and the product being delivered.
Duties
- Responding to direct sales enquiries received by the factory from UK and international customers.
- Preparing quotations for passenger lifts, spare products and our growing range of mobility and access products.
- Working with our Sales team to prepare quotations and provide the information they need to secure orders.
- Following up quotations and customer enquiries to make sure opportunities don't simply disappear or get forgotten.
- Helping customers identify the correct product or specification for their application.
- Compiling and checking lift order forms and obtaining any missing technical or commercial information.
- Entering and maintaining sales opportunities, quotations and customer information within Salesforce CRM.
- Coordinating with Production, Technical, Purchasing and Aftersales teams to answer customer questions and confirm requirements.
- Helping arrange UK and international shipping, including obtaining freight quotations and coordinating delivery information.
- Supporting our international sales activity, including communication with customers and distributors in Asia and other export markets.
- Supporting the introduction and sale of new products from our parent company, Hidral.
- Working closely with colleagues from Hidral in Spain and helping coordinate commercial communication between the two businesses.
- Keeping customers informed as enquiries and orders progress.
- Helping us continually improve our quotation, CRM and sales processes
Ultimately, your job is simple:
Help make it easy for customers to buy from us and make sure good sales opportunities don't fall through the gaps.
What will make you a good candidate?
You don't need to know anything about passenger lifts when you arrive – we can teach you the products and the industry.
What we're looking for is someone who is organised, commercially aware and enjoys dealing with customers.
Qualifications
- At least two years' experience in a commercial, sales administration, customer service, order processing or similar office-based role.
- Experience preparing quotations or processing customer orders.
- Good IT skills and confidence working with digital systems.
- Experience with CRM software such as Salesforce would be an advantage.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage several enquiries and priorities at the same time.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence communicating with customers, suppliers and colleagues at different levels.
- Good attention to detail – specifications, prices and delivery information need to be right.
- A practical, common-sense approach to solving problems.
- The ability to work independently without needing to be constantly managed.
- A positive, motivated attitude and a genuine desire to help win business.
Experience with international customers, exports, freight or European businesses would be useful, but isn't essential.
What we offer
You'll be joining a UK manufacturing business where you can see the products being designed, built and shipped from the same site where you work.
You'll also have the opportunity to work with customers and colleagues internationally as PLS becomes increasingly integrated with the wider Hidral Group.
We offer:
- £28,000–£30,000 starting salary, depending on experience.
- 22 days' holiday plus statutory holidays.
- An extra day off for your birthday.
- Death in service benefit.
- Pension scheme.
- Training on our products, systems and industry.
- The opportunity to develop into an important long-term member of our commercial team.
Most importantly, this is a role where initiative is valued. If you see a better way of doing something, we want you to say so and help us improve it.
Hours of work
Monday–Thursday: 8:00am–5:00pm
Friday: 8:00am–12:30pm
The role is based at our Smethwick factory and offices, where you'll work closely with Sales, Engineering, Production and Aftersales.
