We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our expanding team. A permanent vacancy has arisen for the role of Firearms Licensing Admin Assistant within the Firearms Licensing Department located in Criminal Justice at Phoenix House, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
We are seeking a highly organised and professional Firearms Licensing Administrative Assistant to join our Firearms Licensing Department. This is an exciting opportunity to support the administration of firearms, shotgun and explosive licensing, ensuring applications are processed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with legislation, national guidance, and force policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, process, and manage firearms and shotgun grant, renewal, variation applications.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date licensing records and databases.
- Correspond with applicants, registered firearms dealers, shooting clubs, partner agencies, and internal departments.
- Review documentation to ensure applications are complete and compliant with legislative requirements.
- Prepare supporting documentation for Firearms Enquiry Officers and decision-makers.
- Process payments and issue certificates and correspondence.
- Respond to telephone, email, and written enquiries from members of the public and stakeholders.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information in line with data protection requirements.
- Support the scheduling and administration of firearms licensing visits and interviews.
About You - The ideal candidate will be:
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Able to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
- A confident communicator with strong customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experienced in administrative or office-based work.
- Comfortable handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Committed to providing a professional and efficient service.
