We are now looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our team!
Role Purpose:
Playing a vital role in the design of major engine components and systems, ensuring that performance requirements are met and exceeded and that reliability and regulatory requirements are at the forefront of design. To provide expertise and support to the team and to lead by example
General Responsibilities & Tasks

Drive functional excellence within the engineering team(s)

Be an influential member of the department holding authority for large engineering projects from concept to delivery

Generating the most advanced, performant and reliable designs to agreed timeframes
-
Drive continuous improvement activities
-
Analyse errors, identify trends and develop solutions
-
Ensure accuracy of procedures and documentation including review and sign off of drawings
-
Coaching and mentoring junior designers, fostering their professional growth and supporting their performance
-
Applying engineering principles to solve complex design problems and contribute to innovative solutions
-
Producing and maintaining timing plans detailing the design, manufacture and testing of components and sub-systems
-
Overlap with and support improvement initiatives to scheduling / planning activities within the business

Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions

Produce written reports and make presentations where required

General day management of a team and effective workflow allocation
Relationship Management

Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance

Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance
- Work as part of the Design team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results
People Management:

Help motivate and coach the team to operational success

Qualifications & Experience

At least seven years post graduate experience in the field of Engine Design
-
A good degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
-
Strong understanding of engineering principles and IC engine systems
-
Proven ability of the design of major engine components
-
In depth knowledge of engine design, manufacturing and assembly
-
Highly competent in CAD modelling and drawing, (ideally but not essential in CATIA 5)

Proficient in component structural analysis

Strategic Customer Liaison expertise
