Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Grab Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy machinery, specifically grab cranes, to assist in the loading and unloading of materials on-site. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, experience with excavators, and a valid commercial driving licence. The ideal applicant will be organised, safety-conscious, and capable of working efficiently in a busy environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate grab cranes and other heavy machinery safely and efficiently to load and unload materials.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance checks on equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with the movement of materials around the site using excavators or other relevant machinery.
- Follow all health and safety protocols to minimise risks during operations.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials handled.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly to supervisors.
Requirements
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience operating grab cranes and excavators.
- Valid commercial driving licence recognised in the UK.
- Prior experience working in construction, logistics, or similar industrial environments is preferred.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and responsibly.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Physical fitness to handle manual tasks and work in outdoor conditions.
- Strong commitment to health and safety standards.
