Deputy Manager – Children's Home (Redbridge, IG6)
Location: Hainault, Ilford, London Borough of Redbridge (IG6)
Pay: £15 per hour
Hours: 24 hours per week (3 days per week, typically 10:00am–6:00pm)
On-Call: Approximately 3 days per week - mainly supporting staff with phone advice at £30 per day
About Us
Steps Homes is a small Ofsted-registered children's home providing care and support to young people with emotional and behavioural needs. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to support our Registered Manager and help maintain high standards of care and compliance.
The Registered Manager is present on the other four days each week, providing ongoing management support and oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day operation of the home.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to staff.
- Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare of young people at all times.
- Assist with care planning, risk assessments, incident management, and record keeping.
- Support staff supervision, probation reviews, and development.
- Help ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations, and company policies.
- Liaise with social workers, placing authorities, education providers, and other professionals.
- Participate in management on-call duties, mainly providing telephone support and guidance to staff.
- Assist with audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of the service.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Team Leader,
- Good understanding of safeguarding and children's home regulations.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Ability to support staff and make appropriate decisions when required.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (minimum)..
