Fitzpatrick Referrals is looking for an experienced HR generalist to join their team. The HR generalist will provide first-line advice and support to line managers and employees to ensure the effective delivery of all operational day-to-day HR activities, including HR administration, resource and talent planning, employee relations and learning and development.
The role reports to the head of HR and is a full-time, Monday to Friday, site-based position at our hospital in Eashing, near Godalming in Surrey.
- Provide advice and guidance to line managers and employees in the application of HR policies and procedures, including but not limited to probation, leave, disciplinary and grievance matters and absence and performance management. This will include conducting investigations and formal meetings as required.
- Review and update HR policies in line with employment law updates.
- Resolve queries and escalate to the Head of HR, where these cannot be resolved.
- Deal with flexible working requests and health and stress risk assessments.
- Contribute towards the continuous improvement of our HR processes and procedures.
- Support the recruitment, selection and on-boarding of new employees. E.g. create recruitment campaigns and job descriptions, review candidate applications and support managers with interviews and offers.
- Analyse and interpret leavers’ information and make recommendations for improvement.
- Advise line managers on conducting training needs analysis, identifying appropriate training solutions and training plans.
- Guide line managers on performance reviews and development discussions.
- Deliver workshops around HR policies to line managers (existing and future).
- Evaluate the success of induction programmes and training.
- Oversee the apprenticeship programme and FR placement students.
- Deal with escalated queries from HR inbox and HR coordintor.
- HR system updating and streamlining of processes.
- Maintain HR documentation confidentially in line with the Data Protection Act and UK GDPR, i.e. integrity and storage of files.
- Work with the other HR team members to deliver HR activities and projects as needed.
- Provide holiday cover for the other team members, including the HR coordinator.
- Assist with overflow of HR administration including new starter documentation.
- In addition to your main duties, you will be required to carry out such other duties consistent with your position to meet the needs of the company and as the company may from time to time require.
- CIPD qualified (level 5 or above, or hold equivalent HR qualification).
- Working at advisory level, guiding, influencing and coaching managers.
- Handling a range HR/ER issues; performance, disciplinary, grievance and absence.
- Working under pressure and to tight timescales.
- Skilled user of Microsoft Office software packages including PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Able to multitask and support with overflow of work within the HR team e.g. administration and induction.
- Confident and self-motivated with a flexible approach to work.

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position working Monday – Friday with some flexibility required to support all employees within this 24-hour / 365-day business.
