Fancy something different?
Belvoir Castle is going through an exciting period of change, and we’re looking for great people to grow with us.
We’re looking for a receptionist to join our Estate Office team and be one of the first faces our visitors, suppliers, contractors and colleagues see when they arrive.
Are you bored of the norm?
Fancy a new challenge?
Want to work somewhere with actual history, where no two days are the same – really?
If you can answer yes to the above, we might just have the position for you.
Belvoir Castle is the historic stately home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, with something different happening throughout the seasons. This certainly isn’t your average place to work.
The role
We’re looking for someone who is naturally warm, confident, professional and genuinely enjoys working with people.
Reception is at the heart of the Estate Office, and first impressions really matter.
You’ll welcome and direct visitors, manage signing in and out, answer telephone calls, take messages and make sure enquiries reach the right person or department.
You’ll also help manage access to the Estate Office, dealing confidently and professionally with visitors, contractors and deliveries while supporting the security of the wider Estate.
Alongside reception duties, you’ll assist with post and deliveries, maintain internal contact and supplier information and provide general administrative support to the Castle Opening team and wider Estate operation.
You’ll use Microsoft Office and everyday office systems, while also making sure Reception and the Estate Office entrance remain welcoming, organised and professionally presented.
It’s a varied role – one minute you may be welcoming a visitor, the next dealing with a contractor, answering the phone or helping another department with an administrative task.
Who are we looking for?
For us, personality, professionalism and people skills come first.
Previous reception experience would be an advantage, but we’re equally interested in someone with the right attitude, confidence and potential.
Experience within reception, administration, hospitality, customer service or another people-focused environment would all be relevant.
You’ll need excellent communication skills, good organisation and a professional manner, along with the confidence to deal with people at all levels.
You should be comfortable using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and confident learning new systems and processes.
You’ll need to be reliable, discreet and comfortable taking ownership of your work. You should be able to use your initiative, manage several priorities at once and remain calm when things get busy.
Most importantly, we want someone with energy, enthusiasm, professionalism and a bit of get-up-and-go who wants to be part of what we’re building at Belvoir.
Working pattern
Usual working hours will generally be 9:30am–4:30pm, working approximately 2–4 days per week on a rota basis.
Weekend working will form part of the role and is shared fairly across the team. As a guide, you would normally be expected to work around two weekends per month.
Additional weekend or weekday cover may occasionally be required to support annual leave, sickness, events or other operational requirements.
We aim to provide as much notice as possible when rotas are issued or additional cover is required.
The position will initially be offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis, with a three-month probationary period before confirmation of a permanent appointment.
Sound like you?
Send us your CV and a short introduction telling us a little about you, your experience and why you’d be a great addition to the Belvoir Castle team.
