Mechanical Fitter – Industrial Equipment

Location: Cardiff, UK
Hours: Monday to Thursday (08:00 – 16:30), Friday (08:00 – 15:00) 39 hour week.
Pay: £16.94 per hour ( £35,354 ) Overtime available. 1.5 and 2.

The Role
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our busy workshop team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, diagnosing, and refurbishing complex industrial equipment. This is a workshop-based, permanent position offering stable daytime hours, an early finish on Fridays, and premium overtime rates.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical faults and dismantle, repair, and rebuild industrial components, and equipment.
- Safely operate standard workshop machinery and hand tools, to modify or fabricate parts. ( radial arm drill, Small lathe etc. )
- Conduct strict quality and tolerance checks using precision measuring equipment (e.g., callipers, micrometres).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment, strictly adhering to health and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter within an industrial, manufacturing, or heavy workshop environment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings and engineering plans.
- Relevant trade qualifications or long-term experience with reference to support.
Package, Pay & Benefits
- Base Pay: £16.94 per hour (£34,354.32 base per annum).
- Overtime Rate 1: Time-and-a-half (weekdays and Saturdays).
- Overtime Rate 2: Double time (Sundays, when available).
- Hours: 39 hours per week with a guaranteed early Friday finish (15:00).
- 24 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.
