This is an exciting opportunity to support students with a range of additional learning needs, including dyslexia, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them to achieve their full potential in a supportive and inclusive environment.
About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and the school's SEND team to provide tailored support that enables students to access the curriculum with confidence. You will play an important role in promoting academic progress, independence, and emotional wellbeing, ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-class support alongside teaching staff to help students access learning.
- Deliver targeted one-to-one and small-group interventions to meet individual learning needs.
- Adapt learning activities, clarify instructions, and provide appropriate scaffolding to encourage independent learning.
- Support students with organisation, study skills, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews and support students in working towards their individual targets.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
- Help create an inclusive, positive, and engaging learning environment where every student feels supported and valued.
- Promote safeguarding and the welfare of all students at all times.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Previous experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in a secondary school or similar educational setting.
- A caring, patient, and professional approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
- A flexible, proactive attitude and a genuine passion for inclusive education.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
