Oakes Farm Shop & Café is a family-owned farm shop situated in West Midlands (based in between Solihull and Coventry). We comprise of a shop, butchery, and a thriving café. We’re passionate about providing the best locally sourced food around.
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team in our busy family-run farm shop. The position involves working from 18 hours a week. Hours may increase in the absence of other chefs.
Sociable working hours between 8am and 5pm.
Weekend availability would be essential.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Providing general assistance to our chefs, including but not limited to:
prepping ingredients, plating up cold dishes, assisting with cooking and plating of hot food, and maintaining a clean working environment. Working on the pass will be included, so must be confident to run this section in the absence of Head Chef.
You will be part of a small kitchen team, working in a fast-paced café kitchen, serving hot breakfasts, brunch, lunch, and light bites. In the absence of the other chefs, your hours may be increased to assist with cover.
It is important that you have good communication skills and able to work at a fast pace. The job can at times be high pressured, so managing your workload is important.
This is a great role for someone to start their culinary careers, with progression available.
The successful candidate must have:
- Good communication and team-work skills and able to multi-task
- An organised and flexible approach to work (the role can be reasonably physical at times)
- A solid understanding of food hygiene, HACCAP and COSHH in a kitchen environment.
