Job Purpose
As a Purification Technician, you will contribute to the efficient purification workflow in our purification team by working across several of the key tasks within the workflow. Ideally you bring knowledge and experience of working in a laboratory environment and/or purification. You will help develop the worlds most advanced automated chemical manufacturing lab, collaborating with software and engineering teams to troubleshoot and improve our proprietary technology.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will be reliable and comfortable with repetitive high-throughput work, hands-on with our top-of-the range instruments and being keen to work to a high-quality standard.
We welcome applications from candidates with HNC/HND qualifications in Applied Sciences/Chemistry or relevant degrees who can demonstrate hands-on laboratory experience, diligence and attention to detail, and a desire to work in a high-throughput manufacturing environment.
Prior experience with purification is a benefit but not a requirement. Training on the various roles within the purification team will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
o Core purification tasks: Handle and transfer samples, combine and evaporate fractions as they are generated by the purification, prepare samples for purification, and execute purification methods.
o Troubleshooting: Diagnose instrument issues internally or via vendors.
o Collaboration: Work with chemists and lab ops to maximize workflow effectiveness.
o Innovation: Partner with engineering and software teams to test automation updates and suggest platform improvements.
o Process Development: Proactively design more efficient purification workflows.
o Documentation: Record experiments accurately and adapt to changing company priorities.
Qualifications and Experience
o Minimum Higher (or equivalent) in English, mathematics and a science subject. HNC/HND or degree in a scientific field is a benefit but not a requirement.
o The candidate should ideally have previous work or study experience in a technical role within a laboratory environment, including the handling of chemicals.
o Good numeracy, literacy and attention to detail
o Ability to follow defined procedures accurately
o Oral and written communication skills (English fluency)
Shift Pattern
This role will involve working shifts and weekends.
Location
This role will be based at one of our sites in Glasgow.
Number of Positions
We are looking to fill eight positions with start dates between July and September 2026.
