Overview
We are seeking a motivated Trainee HGV Instructor to join our professional training team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for commercial driving and teaching to develop their skills within a supportive environment. The position involves hands-on training and mentorship, with the goal of becoming a HGV instructor. The ideal candidate will possess practical driving experience, and strong communication skills, eager to progress in the transportation industry.
Your start of wage while training will be £28000 rising to just over £39000 when you are fully trained and able to teach students on your own . Once trained you eill be given a company van to get you to and from work . And on some days you may have to cover at one of our other yards.
In the future you will become a 3A examiner. And a Mod4 assessor. You will also be put through your category D Licence
Responsibilities
- Assist experienced instructors in delivering comprehensive training programmes for aspiring HGV drivers.
- Support learners in developing safe and efficient driving techniques, including manoeuvres specific to large vehicles
- Participate in practical driving sessions, providing constructive feedback to students.
- Help maintain training vehicles and equipment, ensuring they are clean, safe, and operational.
- Contribute to organising training schedules and maintaining accurate records of trainee progress.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance instructional skills and industry knowledge.
- Support the team with general duties related to vehicle maintenance and warehouse organisation as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial driving,
- Practical driving experience with lorries or large vehicles
- Strong communication skills with the ability to instruct and motivate learners effectively.
- A valid <PERSON> driver’s licence or equivalent is essential. Must of helt category CE for a minimum of 5 years and a proven track record or on the road driving not just held licence for 5 years .
- Must have clean licence
- Must be able to pass a DBS check
- Previous experience as a Mentor is highly desirable.
- Enthusiasm for developing teaching skills within the transport sector and a commitment to safety standards.
