Panks is a family run business, that was established in 1842. We have an opportunity for a Workshop Engineer to join us in our Norwich Branch.
We are seeking an experienced Pump Engineer to join our workshop team. This role is primarily focused on the overhaul, repair, testing and manufacture of pump components, alongside general mechanical engineering duties.
We are looking for a practical, hands-on engineer with strong diagnostic ability and attention to detail, capable of working independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive pumps and associated equipment into the workshop and assess for repair or replacement
- Strip down pumps, diagnose faults and carry out full mechanical repairs
- Reassemble and test pumps to ensure safe, efficient and reliable operation
- Manufacture and refurbish components, including:
- Producing sleeves
- Boring out pulleys
- Lathe operations
- Milling and drilling work
- Use workshop machinery including centre lathe, vertical mill, bench drill, tool grinder and propeller drill
- Liaise with the Workshop Manager regarding manufacture of new or replacement components
- Maintain safe systems of work in accordance with health and safety requirements
- Complete job cards and maintain accurate service documentation
- Assist with mentoring and training apprentices
Skills & Experience Required:
- Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in pump strip-down, overhaul and fault diagnosis
- Strong mechanical fitting and machining skills
- Basic electrical knowledge for testing and checking equipment
- Ability to work from drawings and specifications
- Numerate and computer literate
- Good written and verbal communication skills
