Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Roofer to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will have experience in roofing installation, repair, and maintenance, with a strong understanding of various construction techniques. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects, contributing to the safety and durability of buildings. Candidates should be physically fit, safety-conscious, and capable of working at heights in various weather conditions. A background in related trades such as carpentry, masonry, or plumbing is advantageous. All positions are paid, including internships, ensuring fair compensation for your skills and effort.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain roofing systems using a variety of materials such as tiles, shingles, metal sheets, or membranes.
- Read and interpret schematics and technical drawings to ensure accurate installation.
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently during roofing projects.
- Measure surfaces accurately to determine material requirements and cut materials accordingly.
- Use welding techniques where necessary for specialised roofing components or repairs.
- Fabricate custom parts or supports as needed for specific roofing applications.
- Assist with construction tasks related to roofing including carpentry, masonry, or plumbing work when required.
- Conduct safety checks on scaffolding, ladders, and other equipment before commencing work at heights.
- Heavy lifting of roofing materials and equipment to ensure efficient workflow while maintaining safety standards.
- Maintain a clean work environment by organising tools and disposing of waste materials responsibly.
Skills
- Proven experience in roofing installation and repair processes.
- Knowledge of schematics and technical drawings relevant to roofing projects.
- Proficiency with hand tools such as hammers, chisels, saws, and measuring devices.
- Familiarity with power tools including drills, nail guns, and cutting equipment.
- Ability to operate welding equipment for specialised tasks when necessary.
- Experience with fabrication techniques for custom roofing components.
- Construction experience with skills in carpentry, masonry, plumbing or related trades is highly desirable.
- Physical strength for heavy lifting and manoeuvring materials at heights or on uneven surfaces.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to working at heights and around construction sites.
- Ability to interpret technical plans accurately and execute tasks accordingly.
