About GAS
GAS is a small but growing agricultural machinery business focused on sourcing, preparing, and supplying quality equipment to farmers and contractors. We value practical know‑how, reliability, and pride in well-finished machines.
Role overview
You’ll prepare used agricultural machinery for resale—diagnose faults, carry out mechanical repairs and servicing, and ensure each machine is clean, safe, and ready to demonstrate. You’ll also test, run-up, and quality-check equipment before it’s advertised or delivered. For the right person, there’s an additional strand to photograph and advertise stock and potentially handle customer sales enquiries.
Key responsibilities
- Repair, service, and refurbish tractors and farm implements to a sale-ready standard.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues; source and fit parts.
- Test and run up machinery; perform functional checks and safety inspections.
- Keep the workshop organised, safe, and compliant with basic H&S practices.
- Load/unload machinery and assist with yard duties as needed.
Optional sales and marketing responsibilities
- Photograph machinery (clear, well‑lit, multi-angle) and capture key specifications.
- Create and publish listings on sales platforms and social media, writing concise, accurate descriptions.
- Provide honest condition reports and help match customers to suitable machines.
What we’re looking for
- Hands-on experience maintaining or repairing agricultural machinery, plant, or HGVs.
- Experience with major ag brands (e.g., John Deere, New Holland, Ifor Williams, Vaderstad, Kuhn, Claas etc).
- Strong mechanical skills; good understanding of hydraulics and basic auto‑electrics.
- Able to fault-find methodically and work independently to a high standard.
- Comfortable test-running machinery safely and spotting issues before sale.
- Full UK driving licence.
Nice to have
- TIG/MIG welding and light fabrication skills.
- Forklift/telehandler certification.
- Class 1 License
- Comfort using a camera/smartphone for quality photos; basic advert writing.
- Basic IT skills for parts lookups and job records; clear written notes.
- Customer-facing experience or interest in developing sales skills.
Benefits
- Competitive pay based on experience, with progression as we grow.
- Standard weekday hours with occasional overtime by agreement.
- Tools/PPE provided or allowance (to be agreed).
- Supportive small-team environment with varied, hands-on work.
