Join one of the UK's leading suppliers of classic car parts
MGOC Spares has been supplying quality parts and accessories for classic MGs since the 1970s. Today, we stock more than 30,000 parts and supply customers across the UK and worldwide. Alongside our extensive MG range, we also support many other iconic British marques including Mini, Jaguar, Triumph, Morris and Land Rover.
We're looking for an experienced Warehouse Manager to lead our warehouse operation and help us maintain the high standards our customers have come to expect.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll lead the day-to-day running of the warehouse, ensuring orders are received, picked, packed and despatched safely, accurately and on time.
You'll oversee goods inwards, returns, stock accuracy, picking and packing orders across retail, trade and export sectors, warehouse standards and team performance, while planning resources to meet changing workloads. You'll also ensure the systems and records are in place to manage company vehicle inspections, servicing and maintenance.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll work closely with your team, improve processes and help deliver an outstanding customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Manage the daily operation of the warehouse to ensure customer orders are processed efficiently and accurately.
- Deliver agreed same-day despatch service levels for orders received before the daily cut-off time, subject to agreed exceptions.
- Monitor warehouse performance, investigate operational issues and implement corrective actions where appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity and customer service.
Goods In and Returns
- Ensure incoming stock is checked, booked into stock and made available for sale within agreed timescales.
- Ensure products requiring quality inspection are processed promptly.
- Oversee the returns process, ensuring returned goods are recorded, inspected and processed in accordance with company procedures.
Stock Control
- Maintain high standards of stock accuracy and location control.
- Ensure effective management of Goods In, Returns, Quarantine and other non-standard stock locations.
- Support regular stock counts and inventory reconciliation.
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate and develop the warehouse team.
- Plan staffing levels to meet operational demand, making effective use of overtime, temporary labour and seasonal resource where appropriate.
- Monitor performance, provide coaching and support training and development.
Health & Safety
- Maintain a safe, clean and well-organised warehouse environment.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, company policies and safe working practices.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
Company Vehicles
- Ensure appropriate systems and records are in place to manage the inspection, servicing, MOTs and maintenance of company vehicles used by the warehouse team, including fork lift trucks.
- Ensure vehicle defects or damage are reported promptly, and appropriate action is taken.
- Promote the responsible use and care of company vehicles.
Communication and Collaboration
- Work closely with colleagues across Sales, Purchasing and Customer Services to deliver an excellent customer experience.
- Produce operational reports and KPI information as required.
- Support wider business objectives through effective communication and teamwork.
About You
We're looking for someone with proven warehouse management experience. The industry you've worked in isn't important. We're interested in your ability to lead people, organise a busy operation and deliver consistently high standards.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous warehouse management or supervisory experience.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Experience of stock control, goods inwards and despatch.
- A good understanding of warehouse Health & Safety.
- Experience using warehouse or stock management systems.
- A practical, organised approach and a focus on continuous improvement.
An interest in classic cars would be a bonus, but it isn't essential.
