Come and join our team
We are seeking a motivated and organised Capital Projects Technician to join our Flood & Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) team.
You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of our FCERM capital works programme, helping to protect communities from flooding and coastal erosion. Working closely with project managers, consultants, contractors and stakeholders, you will provide project coordination, data analysis and administrative support to ensure projects are delivered effectively and achieve their intended benefits.
The role requires flexibility, including supporting flood incident response and occasional work outside normal office hours when required.
The post grant funded and is offered on a full time, temporary contract running between financial years up to 31st March 2027
What you’ll do
Support the delivery of the FCERM capital works programme and manage day-to-day priorities effectively
Lead on data collation, analysis and reporting, monitoring project benefits against agreed targets
Act as a key point of contact between clients, consultants and contractors, maintaining project documentation and timelines
Support procurement activities for materials and services
Assist with site visits, project inspections and the monitoring of construction works
Attend meetings with contractors, consultants, stakeholders and members of the public, providing project support and coordination
Support contract monitoring, administration and performance reviews with external contractors
Organise meetings, workshops and events, take minutes and monitor actions to ensure progress is maintained
Develop the skills and experience required to manage smaller-scale capital projects independently
Support the wider Flood Defence and Coastal Protection team during flood incidents, including on-site duties when required
