Procurement and Inventory Manager

The Procurement & Inventory Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless flow of products across the business, taking full ownership of procurement, supplier relationships, and inventory management. With full accountability for inventory planning, forecasting, and stock optimisation, the successful candidate will maintain accurate stock levels while ensuring compliance with customer systems and processes.
Reporting directly to the Business Development Manager, the Procurement & Inventory Manager will lead, support, and develop the Fulfilment Team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver procurement and inventory strategies that support business growth, operational efficiency, and cost reduction.
- Manage supplier relationships, including sourcing, negotiation, performance monitoring, and contract compliance.
- Own inventory planning, forecasting, and stock optimisation to maintain service levels while minimising waste and excess stock.
- Oversee the end-to-end purchasing and stock management process.
- Monitor key inventory metrics, including slow-moving stock, best-before dates, and key volume/value SKUs, implementing action plans where required.
- Ensure the compliant procurement and handling of fragile and high-value goods, adhering to customer and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with customer systems, HMRC regulations, and internal quality and operational standards.
- Produce inventory and procurement reports, analysing KPIs to support business decisions and continuous improvement.
- Lead, coach, and develop the Fulfilment Team, ensuring high levels of performance, communication, and customer service.
- Collaborate with Business Development, Operations, Finance, Logistics, and Supply Partners to ensure product availability and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
- Drive continuous improvement across procurement, inventory management, and order processing through process reviews and operational enhancements.
- Resolve supply chain issues proactively and provide operational support to the Business Development Manager as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in procurement, inventory, or supply chain management.
- Strong inventory planning, forecasting, and stock control experience.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Previous experience leading, developing, and motivating a team.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
· Strong knowledge of ERP and Inventory management systems.
· Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels of the business.
· A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
· Knowledge of purchasing, logistics, and supply chain best practices.
· Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and operational excellence.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related discipline (e.g. CIPS or equivalent).
· Experience with knowledge of HM Customs Regulations and bonded goods.
