Join Our Team as a Maintenance Operative – Keep Our Home Safe, Functional and Welcoming!
Part-time role | Three hours per day, three-days per week | Occasional call-outs may be required
Are you a skilled and reliable Maintenance Operative who takes pride in creating a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment? We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our supportive and hardworking team at a highly regarded care home that provides residential and dementia care.
You’ll play a vital part in ensuring the building, grounds, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards — directly contributing to the comfort, wellbeing, and safety of residents, staff, and visitors.
About the Role
As a Maintenance Operative, your key responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out day-to-day maintenance and repair tasks throughout the home
- Conducting regular safety and compliance checks on systems including fire alarms, boilers, lighting, and lifts
- Responding promptly to maintenance requests and ensuring minimal disruption to residents
- Supporting health and safety across the home by adhering to regulatory and internal policies
- Maintaining accurate records of checks, repairs, and maintenance tasks
- Undertaking minor plumbing, decorating, and carpentry work
- Ensuring the grounds and communal areas are clean, safe, and tidy
- Carrying out local errands such as banking and purchasing supplies for the home
- Working flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours call-outs when needed

We believe in supporting our team members to feel appreciated and empowered in their roles. As part of our maintenance team, you will benefit from:
- A supportive and inclusive working environment
- Thorough induction and training
- Ongoing development opportunities
- Clear expectations and a structured workload
- The chance to contribute meaningfully to residents’ daily lives
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone with a proactive mindset, strong technical skills, and a can-do attitude. You should be:
- Experienced in a general maintenance or facilities role, or highly competent with DIY
- Confident in basic plumbing, joinery, painting, and general building maintenance
- Knowledgeable about health and safety legislation and procedures
- Comfortable carrying out routine checks and safety inspections
- Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, colleagues, and contractors
- Organised, efficient, and capable of managing your workload independently
- Competent with basic IT tasks, including email and reporting maintenance logs
