McConnell is a Principal Contractor delivering external refurbishment, roof renewal, external wall insulation and render systems, window and door replacement, void property reinstatement, modernisation, and planned maintenance services for the public and private sectors across the UK. We employ the industry's best people and are currently seeking experienced Site Managers to oversee planned external refurbishment works including roof renewals, external render systems, window and door replacements, associated structural repairs, and external property upgrades.

- Working Hours: Full-time, 8.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 4.00pm Friday
Primary Responsibilities
- Meeting mandatory company required SHEQ standards
- Effective management of day-to-day site operations
- Carrying out your responsibilities using a reasonable standard of skill and care
- Ensure that the site is presented in a safe, clean, and professional manner at all times
- Managing stakeholder expectations and relationships using effective communication and high standards of care to achieve equitable outcomes for all stakeholders including Customers, Consultants, Supply Chain, McConnell employees, Building Occupiers, and any others
- Senior Site Managers and Project Managers may manage Site Managers
Specific Responsibilities
SHEQ
- Responsible for meeting mandatory and company required SHEQ standards and the implementation and maintenance of the Construction Phase Plan (CPP)
- Capturing all information and data required for O&M Manuals, the Golden Thread, or other similar documentation
- Full compliance with prevailing Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM)
- Ensure adherence to the McConnell Quality Management System (QMS)
- Ensure compliance with the Site Waste Management Plan (SWMP)
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and notices
- Deliver site inductions for anyone entering site
- Ensure McConnell employees, subcontractors and third parties have the required skills, competencies, certification, training and understanding to achieve the required SHEQ standards
- Ensure all works at height, scaffolding operations, roofing activities, and façade works are carried out safely and in accordance with statutory requirements
General
- Familiarise yourself with contract documents and requirements, including Specifications, Drawings, Design Requirements and project-specific information
- Assist the Contracts Manager with site establishment, planning and installation, ensuring McConnell standards for site accommodation, welfare, signage and livery are achieved
- Accountable for the day-to-day management of site activities
- Ensure the site is presented in a safe, secure, clean and professional manner at all times
- Maintain site accommodation, welfare facilities and storage areas to a high standard
- Plan and requisition site equipment, plant and materials required to deliver roofing, rendering, window and door replacement works
- Maintain site administration and records in accordance with McConnell QMS and statutory requirements
- Manage all relationships in line with McConnell Care Values
- Attend and coordinate site meetings in conjunction with the Contracts Manager
- Effectively manage McConnell employees, Assistant Site Managers, Resident Liaison Officers, Operatives and subcontractors
- Coordinate works involving scaffold contractors, roofing contractors, rendering specialists, window and door installers, and other specialist subcontractors
- Effectively manage relationships with Customer representatives, Clerks of Works, Building Safety Regulator, Consultants and other stakeholders
Programme
- Manage project delivery in line with the Programme of Works, regularly monitoring progress, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing mitigation measures to minimise risks and delays
- Where delays are unavoidable, maintain detailed records and communications and issue notices in conjunction with the Contracts Manager and Quantity Surveyor
- Produce short-term target programmes where necessary to ensure programme milestones are achieved
- Lead subcontractor planning and progress meetings, recording actions and minutes
- Ensure effective and timely use of Requests for Information (RFIs), site instructions, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), delay notices and associated project documentation
- Maintain a strong focus on quality assurance, testing, inspections and effective project close-out procedures, ensuring completion certificates and Clerk of Works sign-off are achieved
Commercial
- Assist the commercial team where requested by highlighting commercial risks and opportunities, providing accurate records and supporting information
- Exercise commercial awareness by identifying specification variations and opportunities for additional works
- Ensure cost efficiency and effective control of materials, plant, consumables and PPE
Qualifications
Essential
- SMSTS Certificate
- Valid UK Driving Licence
- First Aid at Work Certificate
- Asbestos Awareness
- Working at Height
- Demonstrable experience managing external refurbishment projects involving roofing, façade works, render systems and/or window and door replacement
Desirable
- Fire Marshal Certificate
- Membership of, or working towards, a relevant professional body
- Relevant construction qualification (NVQ Level 4+, HNC, HND or Degree)
- Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor
- Scaffold Inspection Certificate
- PAS 2030/2035 or retrofit project experience
- Ability to competently use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
- Proficient in Microsoft Project or similar project planning software
