Reporting To: Training Manager
Main Purpose
To support the development of staff knowledge, skills, and competencies by coordinating and delivering high-quality training programmes across the organisation.
The Health & Social Care Trainer will design, deliver, and evaluate learning initiatives to ensure employees are equipped to provide safe, effective, and person-centred care in line with organisational standards, CQC requirements, and best practice.
The post holder will play a key role in induction, mandatory training compliance, and promoting a positive culture of continuous professional development.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
Essential
- · Experience delivering training, coaching, or supporting learning in a workplace setting
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Good organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to engage and motivate learners
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and learning management systems
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Ability to build positive relationships with managers and staff at all levels
- Ability to analyse training data and identify trends

Desirable
- Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards

- Experience working within the health and social care sector
- Full UK driving licence
Key Responsibilities
1. Training Delivery
· Deliver engaging and effective training sessions to staff across the organisation
· Facilitate classroom-based, virtual, and one-to-one learning sessions
· Adapt training methods to meet different learning styles and needs
· Deliver mandatory and specialist training programmes, including positive behaviour support, freedom to speak up, positive common language.
· Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
2. Induction and Onboarding
· Coordinate and deliver induction programmes for new employees
· Ensure new starters complete mandatory training within required timescales
· Support managers in embedding learning into practice
3. Training Design and Development
· Design and update lesson plans, presentations, and learning materials
· Ensure content reflects current legislation, company policies, and best practice
· Support the development of mandatory and role-specific training programmes
· Conduct observations of practice and competency assessments where required.
· Work with managers to identify learning gaps and support improvement plans
4. Training Coordination and Administration
· Schedule training sessions and manage venues, equipment, and materials
· Maintain accurate training records and reports
· Monitor mandatory training compliance and follow up with managers
· Administer the organisation’s learning management system (e.g. Care Skills)
5. Evaluation and Quality Assurance
· Assess learner understanding through quizzes, observations, and feedback
· Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements
· Produce reports on attendance, completion, and outcomes
· Support quality assurance processes and maintain training records in accordance with awarding body and organisational requirements.
6. Staff Development Support
· Provide coaching and practical guidance to staff and managers
· Promote continuous professional development and career progression
· Respond to training-related queries and requests
7. Compliance and Regulatory Standards
· Ensure training aligns with CQC requirements, safeguarding standards, and organisational policies
· Maintain knowledge of current legislation and sector best practice
· Support inspection readiness through robust training compliance
· Monitor training compliance against organisational targets and escalate concerns where compliance falls below required standards.
8. Professional Standards
· Maintain confidentiality and uphold GDPR requirements
· Promote equality, diversity, dignity, and respect
· Attend meetings, supervision, and relevant training
· Undertake any other reasonable duties within the scope of the role
· Support organisational change initiatives through training, coaching, and communication.

Working Arrangements
- Office-based with regular travel to services
- Flexibility to support occasional evening or weekend training delivery, given the nature of a 24-hour care service
- Occasional early morning or evening sessions may be required
