CNC Miller – Skilled Machinist - Shift
The Role
We are looking for an experienced CNC Miller to join our manufacturing team. This is a hands-on machining role for a skilled, time-served CNC Setter/Operator with strong experience working on Mazak milling machines.
You will be responsible for producing high-quality, precision components from engineering drawings, working to tight tolerances and maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate, high-quality precision components from engineering drawings.
- Competently set and operate CNC milling machines, with particular emphasis on Mazak equipment.
- Work with 3, 4 and 5-axis milling machines.
- Work to tight engineering tolerances and inspect your own work to ensure it meets specification.
- Carry out quality checks on all completed jobs.
- Interpret engineering drawings and follow written manufacturing instructions.
- Work efficiently while maintaining consistently high standards of quality.
- Take responsibility for your work and use your own initiative to resolve manufacturing issues where appropriate.
- Understand and contribute to all aspects of the manufacturing process.
- Clean and maintain CNC machines, tooling, equipment and the surrounding work area.
- Follow all company health, safety and quality procedures.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a wider manufacturing team.
About You
You will be a fully skilled, time-served CNC Setter/Operator with relevant qualifications or certificates and demonstrable experience in precision machining.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Time-served and fully skilled CNC Miller / Setter Operator.
- Experience working with Mazak milling machines.
- Strong experience with 3, 4 and 5-axis machining.
- Experience within the aerospace industry or another high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience using a wide range of precision measuring equipment.
- Knowledge of Heidenhain, Mazatrol and Fanuc controls.
- Computer literate with good general IT skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
- Good practical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent hand-to-eye coordination.
- Ability to concentrate for extended periods while producing precision components.
- Able to follow written instructions and manufacturing procedures.
- Able to work independently using your own initiative, as well as contributing effectively within a team.
- Strong commitment to safe working practices.
- Willing and able to work shifts, including night shifts.
- Normal colour vision.
