We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Promotion Officer to join the existing Collections, Research and Learning team on a fixed term basis until 14th September 2027. Reporting to the Research Manager the successful applicant will promote, effectively and widely, research produced by or associated with the museum. They will design and deliver the museum’s summer and winter lecture series, recruiting speakers to provide a varied and engaging showcase of insightful talks. They will likewise organise the museum’s annual postgraduate and early career researcher conference Weapons in Society, working with academic and heritage partners in order to deliver the event successfully. Furthermore, they will publicise museum research through a variety of social media channels.
The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly, be highly organised and self-motivated with a proven ability to work to tight deadlines. They must be an effective and professional communicator, able to engage with stakeholders and build relationships at all levels across the organisation.
Hours
The candidate will work for one day (7.2 hours) per week. The role will predominantly be delivered from home with some presence required in the office.
The Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom’s national museum of arms and armour and one of the most important collections of its type in the world, housed at its headquarters and flagship museum in Leeds, its historic home at the Tower of London, and the Victorian Fort Nelson in Hampshire.
