It employs approximately 25 people, including regional supervisors and an Environmental Coordinator.
Our culture: customer service comes first.
At Tactical, the way we communicate and conduct ourselves with clients is paramount to our success.
We expect every client to receive a responsive, professional and dependable service. This means keeping clients informed, doing what we have promised, taking ownership when something goes wrong and resolving concerns quickly. We do not ignore problems, allow emails to go unanswered or leave clients uncertain about what is happening.
The successful candidate must share this approach and lead by example. You will set the standard for how the department communicates with clients and ensure that the entire team understands that technical delivery and customer service are equally important.
The role:
Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will take overall responsibility for the operational performance, service quality and customer experience of the Environmental Services department.
You will directly manage the regional supervisors and Environmental Coordinator, ensuring that contracts are properly planned, adequately resourced and delivered safely and consistently.
Key responsibilities:

- Build trusted and professional relationships with clients.
- Ensure client enquiries, concerns and complaints are acknowledged and resolved promptly.
- Communicate openly with clients about progress, delays and corrective actions.
- Lead and develop regional supervisors and the Environmental Coordinator.
- Oversee grounds maintenance, soft landscaping, street cleansing and bin-emptying operations.
- Ensure contracts are delivered to specification and to a consistently high standard.
- Monitor WorkPal reports, photographs, audits, productivity and service performance.
- Manage staffing, recruitment, absence cover and workforce planning.
- Ensure teams are professional, presentable and respectful while working at client sites.
- Investigate service failures, identify their causes and implement lasting corrective actions.
- Maintain compliance with health and safety procedures and company standards.
- Monitor vehicles, machinery and equipment requirements.
- Support new contract mobilisations, tenders and pricing.
- Identify efficiencies and help grow the department without compromising service quality.
About you:
You will be an approachable, visible and accountable manager who takes pride in delivering an excellent customer experience.
Operational knowledge is important, but we are equally interested in how you communicate, build relationships and respond when plans change or problems arise. You should have:
- Experience managing supervisors and operational employees.
- Strong customer-service and client-management skills.
- Experience handling complaints and resolving operational problems.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple contracts across two regions.
- A practical understanding of health and safety.
- Confidence using digital job-management and reporting systems.
- A full UK driving licence.
Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, environmental services, waste, cleansing or another mobile-service environment would be advantageous.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of an established department and help deliver its next stage of growth. Success will be measured not only by productivity and financial performance, but by client satisfaction, communication, service consistency and the strength of the relationships you build.
