Salary: £42,839 to £47,181 per annum (pro rata) plus additional payments of £30 per weekend shift and £22–£44 per night shift

North Yorkshire Council is looking to recruit Relief Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHPs) to join our Emergency Duty Team (EDT).
This is a fantastic opportunity to work flexibly while supporting a vital out-of-hours service, undertaking Mental Health Act assessments across North Yorkshire and the City of York.
Our Emergency Duty Team provides a county-wide out-of-hours social care service for adults and children. Relief AMHPs play a key role in responding to people experiencing mental health crises, working alongside health colleagues, police, ambulance services and other partner agencies to ensure timely and effective interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake Mental Health Act assessments in accordance with statutory duties.
- Coordinate and manage complex Mental Health Act assessment processes.
- Liaise effectively with health professionals, police, ambulance services and other partners.
- Assess and manage risk in high-pressure situations.
- Make lawful, proportionate and person-centred decisions.
- Complete accurate records and statutory documentation.
- Provide professional AMHP advice and guidance out of hours.
About You
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Current AMHP qualification and approval.
- Experience of undertaking Mental Health Act assessments.
- Sound knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and relevant legislation.
- Ability to work autonomously and make complex decisions under pressure.
- Strong communication and partnership-working skills.
