Support Worker / Personal Assistant
£15.50 per hour (plus 1–2 sleep-ins per week)

About the Role
Believe Care and Support is seeking a compassionate, dependable and motivated Support Worker / Personal Assistant to become part of a dedicated team supporting a young neurodiverse man. He benefits from structured, person-centred support that enables him to live as independently and confidently as possible. He experiences anxiety and values support from people who are patient, trustworthy and able to build a genuine, positive relationship with him.
He currently lives with his family, with plans for him to move into his own home in the West Lancashire area in the future. This role offers the opportunity to support him through this exciting stage while helping him achieve greater independence.
About the Individual
He is a friendly, intelligent and engaging young man with a range of interests. He enjoys volunteering at and visiting steam railways, spending time with animals (particularly dogs), going to the cinema, countryside walks and preparing meals. He is looking for someone who will actively support him to enjoy these activities while encouraging his confidence, independence and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
Provide support with everyday living tasks, including planning meals, cooking, organising daily routines and attending appointments.
Accompany and support him in the community, including volunteering at steam railways, cinema visits, countryside walks and other activities. Ideally, you'll enjoy getting involved in his volunteering alongside him.
Encourage the development of practical life skills that promote independence, confidence and self-reliance.
Build a positive and trusting relationship by offering companionship, reassurance and consistent encouragement.
Monitor his wellbeing and safety, maintaining effective communication with his family and the wider support team to ensure he receives the best possible care.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
Compassionate, patient and calm, with the ability to provide reassurance during times of anxiety or stress.
Resilient, respectful and non-judgemental, with a genuine commitment to supporting others.
Mature, reliable and professional in both attitude and approach.
Happy to spend time outdoors and able to participate in walks and community-based activities.
A confident communicator who works well with the individual, their family and colleagues.
Experienced in supporting people with autism and/or mental health needs, with a willingness to continue learning and developing professionally.
A full UK driving licence holder. The individual has access to a mobility vehicle which is used to support community access and activities.
