Streetwave is a UK technology company that independently measures real-world mobile network coverage and performance. We deploy compact, custom-built data collection devices inside vehicles, primarily local authority refuse collection vehicles, which gather mobile coverage and performance data as they travel their daily routes. Our clients include local councils, regulators, governments, infrastructure builders and mobile network operators who use the data to make decisions about connectivity investment and policy, identify coverage gaps, and improve the networks for consumers.
We are looking for an Operations Manager to own the day-to-day running of our device operations end to end. We need someone who is comfortable working across different types of tasks, from hands-on device work and depot visits to customer support and careful data management, and who takes ownership of their area without needing to be managed closely. The work is varied, technically interesting, and genuinely impactful.
The Role
This is a hands-on, varied role that combines office-based work with regular travel across the UK. No two weeks look the same. You might spend Monday monitoring devices and supporting a council client remotely, Tuesday assembling new kit in the office, Wednesday driving to a waste depot in Yorkshire to install devices in bin lorries, and Thursday working with the technical team on new software to support operations and customer data collection.
You will own procurement, device assembly, inventory, SIM management, field deployments, customer support, preventative maintenance, and the coordination of drive and walk test campaigns. You will become the go-to expert on how our equipment works and be expected to troubleshoot and repair kit as well as keeping clients well supported and informed.
What You Will Be Doing
Visiting waste depots across the UK to install, maintain, and retrieve devices from refuse collection vehicles
Monitoring active devices daily and resolving issues remotely or on site
Supporting council clients and depot teams with equipment issues, best practice, and guidance
Procuring phones and components, assembling new devices, and carrying out minor repairs and maintenance
Managing the full SIM estate: activations, monthly billing reconciliation, and cancellations
Coordinating drive and walk test campaigns: sourcing drivers, shipping kit, briefing operatives, and managing delivery
Maintaining the device inventory tracker and all operational documentation
What We Are Looking For
Own car and clean full UK driving licence; comfortable with regular travel and occasional overnight stays
Hands-on and practically minded; not afraid to get stuck in with hardware and figure out what is wrong
Analytically capable; comfortable with spreadsheets and reconciling data across multiple sources
Excellent communicator; confident and professional dealing with depot managers, council officers, and agency drivers
Self-sufficient and well organised; able to manage a busy and varied workload without close supervision
Experience in field operations, logistics, farming, or a similarly practical role is a bonus but not essential
What We Offer
£40,000 to £45,000 base salary dependent on experience, plus discretionary performance based bonus
33 days holiday (inclusive of public holidays)
45p per mile mileage reimbursement and all travel expenses covered
Flexible working around field and office commitments
Pension contributions
A central role in a growing, purposeful business doing genuinely impactful work
