Purpose of the role:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer within the Systems Engineering function, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development and integration of electrical and power electronic systems for Ceres' fuel cell and electrolysis technologies. You will contribute to the ongoing evolution of fuel cell stacks, electrolyser stacks and stack array modules, whilst leading the electrical architecture design of grid-connected systems across both AC and DC power distribution networks. Working across the full product development lifecycle, you will undertake electrical system modelling, power analysis and concept development, identifying and implementing the most effective technical solutions to support safe, reliable and commercially viable system deployment.
The role is responsible for producing high-quality engineering documentation, including electrical architectures, wiring schematics, design calculations and technical reports, ensuring effective communication with internal stakeholders, external partners and customers. You will provide expert technical oversight throughout project delivery, reviewing and approving electrical designs, contractor installations and system compliance against relevant international standards, including IEEE, ANSI, IEC and NFPA requirements. In addition, you will work closely with project leadership to identify, assess and mitigate technical risks, define electrical interface requirements between fuel cell or electrolyser modules and external systems, and support the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and validation of electrical systems both in-house and on customer sites. This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong technical expertise, sound engineering judgement and the ability to translate complex electrical challenges into practical, scalable solutions that support the successful deployment of next-generation clean energy technologies.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Hands-on practical with strong theoretical knowledge and experience of real-world components and systems
Experience designing and delivering grid connections for power generation and demand projects in volving AC and DC distributions (experience in MW scale systems is a plus)
Practical experience of designing electrical systems (cable sizing, protection device selection, earthing/grounding design) and able to advise on panel and wiring layout, connection requirements, cable management etc
Experience in interfacing electrical system with control system elements such as PLCs, embedded microcontrollers, electronic power converters and protection devices
Good understanding of grid connection process, regulations, and policy across different geographical regions (national and international standards)
Knowledge of power system modelling and analysis. Experience in using ETAP (Electrical Power System Analysis), EPLAN and MATLAB software (or similar tools)
Knowledge of reviewing electrical design (electrical drawing and schematics, ETAP design, BoM, load calculation, components selection, EPLAN schematics)
