Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with strong CAD/CAM and CNC programming skills to join our shop floor. The ideal candidate will program, set up, and operate Hurco mills and Siemens-control lathes to produce precision components to tight tolerances while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set up, and operate CNC mills (primarily Hurco) and CNC lathes (Siemens controls)
- Create and edit CNC programs using CAD/CAM software
- Interpret technical drawings
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding methods
- Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges ect)
- Optimize programs for cycle time, tool life, and surface finish
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary program or process adjustments
- Maintain machines, tooling, and work area in accordance with safety
- Collaborate with engineers and fabricators to improve processes and resolve production challenges
- Accurately document setups, programs, and production data
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist with hands-on programming ability
- Strong working knowledge of CAD/CAM software (e.g., OneCnC, Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks CAM, or similar)
- Direct experience programming and operating Hurco mills
- Direct experience with Siemens control lathes
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
- Solid understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds/speeds, and materials (including steels, aluminum, stainless, and exotic alloys)
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training or apprenticeship in machining/CNC technology
- Experience with multi-axis machining
- Familiarity with tool presetters, probing systems, or advanced Siemens functions
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
