Job Summary
IC Transport are seeking a professional and reliable Class 1 HGV Driver to join our logistics team.
We are a dedicated, same-day courier company. We do not carry out multi-drop/pallet network work. This role consists of plant/machinery movements and curtainside trailer work.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of goods using curtain-side vehicles, ensuring timely service to our clients. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced drivers with a strong focus on safety, professionalism, and customer satisfaction. The position involves delivering a variety of goods across the UK and sometimes Europe, adhering to all relevant road safety regulations and company policies.
- Nights out are required with this role - ideally up to 3 per week. An allowance is provided for this and all parking is paid for by IC Transport.
- Weekend availability can also be required when necessary.
- Overtime is paid at 1.5x.
Responsibilities
- Operate Class 1 HGV's in full compliance with legal and company standards.
- Plan and execute delivery routes efficiently, ensuring timely arrivals at designated locations.
- Secure loads safely, ensuring stability during transit.
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any faults or issues promptly
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation.
- Communicate effectively with planners and clients regarding delivery schedules or delays
- Adhere to all road safety laws and company policies during driving activities.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods when necessary, ensuring proper handling procedures are followed.
- Provide an excellent level of customer service, in line with IC Transport's core values.
Qualifications
- Valid UK Category C (Class 1) HGV licence with relevant driving experience.
- Proven experience as a commercial driver.
- Strong understanding of road safety regulations and compliance standards
- Experience with securing loads desirable.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to plan routes effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently, responsibly and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Experience in plant & machinery and/or IPAF would be preferred.
