Job Summary
A fantastic opportunity to join a small team in a wonderful home environment. We are looking for *female enthusiastic, motivated, and flexible Support Worker to work in a lovely home setting near London BR2. The candidate would need to be within a 15 mile or 20 minute drive radius of BR2 due to split shifts. Our client “Belle” is a wonderful 14-year-old who lives with her parents and younger siblings. Belle has cerebral palsy meaning she has difficulty with movement, speech and feeding. She has a PEG for food and medication. She uses a hoist for all transfers and has specialist equipment at home. Despite these challenges, Belle is a happy girl who loves the company of others, being with her family and spending time in her sensory room and having pamper sessions.
We are looking for someone to enable Belle to continue to enjoy life while ensuring that she is happy, safe, supported and thriving. Belle needs a high level of support to meet all her personal care needs, as well as maintaining her home environment and administering her medication.
Experience is preferred and a Level 2 certificate in Social Care is desirable, however not mandatory as training can be given. We require someone who Is reliable, nurturing and person focused. Someone who Is confident (or willing to be trained) in PEG-feeding and hoist use. You will be working in Belle’s home and thus you must always maintain confidentiality and privacy for Belle and her family.
Being a driver is required. You will be part of a small care team covering split shifts on week days during term time and school holidays, with possible weekend shifts to cover sickness and annual leave.
Responsibilities
- Plan and engage in fun and stimulating activities within the family home, in the garden and local community so that Belle can enjoy a variety of activities.
- Work closely with Belle, her family, her team of therapists. Team leader, and Case Manager to ensure she is supported with mobility, nutrition, medication and personal care – you will get full training so that you are confident with all aspects of this. You will also complete shadow shifts to inform your practice.
- Be actively involved in the implementation of Belle’s therapy programmes.
- Travel to and from school with Belle during term-time in her accessible vehicle.
- Travel with Belle to and from activities in her accessible vehicle.
- Be able to build positive and professional relationships with Belle, her family, her existing support team and external professionals.
- Efficiently maintain daily records and updates and communicate effectively with Belle’s family, her existing support team, the Case Manager and therapy team.
- Provide support with housework and managing her immediate environment.
- Continuously support Belle with her physical challenges and appreciate the need to safeguard and promote her wellbeing, comfort and safety
- Personal care (bathing/showering/toileting/etc.)
- Manual handling (assistance with transferring/hoisting).
- Administering medication
- Record keeping
- Preparing and serving meals/snacks via PEG.

Monday - Friday 2.30pm - 7pm
School holidays
Monday to Friday:
To cover the hours between 10am - 5/6pm.
Saturdays and or Sundays - 8am-6pm
if required for covering sickness and annual leave

Salary:
- Weekday rate - £18.00p/h
- Weekend rate - £20.00p/h.
- Bank holidays – £27.00 p/h
Skills
- Previous care experience required.
- Caring and compassionate.
- An energetic, happy person who enjoys forming relationships with people.
- Clean driving licence and is comfortable and confident driving a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
- Enhanced DBS – Children’s Barred List and two references.
- We are looking for a *female for this role as well as someone who holds a full uk (or equivalent) driving licence and is comfortable and confident in driving a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
