Job summary
We are looking to recruit a fully qualified flexible, self-motivated and hardworking person to join our Practice Dispensing Team to cover a 12 month maternity leave with a view to a permanent position.
Hours 33 per week
Practice Dispenser
· The role entails dealing with patient enquiries face-to-face and by telephone.
· In line with our Standard Operating Procedures, you will be preparing repeat prescriptions, in an efficient and accurate manner.
· Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription.
· Endorse all prescription forms as appropriate, collate and forward the forms in a secure manner to the NHS Prescription Services for processing and reimbursement.
· To handle stock levels and ensure all drugs are stored in an appropriate manner
This is a demanding and challenging position in a constantly changing health environment. You will play an integral part in managing dispensing workloads accurately and safely and ensuring high standards of dispensing practises are upheld and delivered each day.
The ideal candidate must hold one or more of the following qualifications:
· Accredited dispensing assistant course
· Medicines Counter Assistant qualification
· NVQ2 or 3 in Dispensing or BTEC equivalent qualification.
Main duties of the job
To process all relevant prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the principles of good practice.
To adhere to the strictest confidentiality when handling medical records and other information, pertaining to patients.
To project a positive and friendly image to dispensary patients and other visitors and deal with queries in a professional, courteous and efficient way.
To build productive relationships with all work colleagues and other key external personnel.
