Sewing Machinist/ Trainee - Experience not required. Full training provided.
Hours: 16-20 hours per week, any 5 of 7 days (to be discussed)
Location: Redburn Industrial Estate, NE5 1NB
Salary: Flexible dependant on experience.

Kenton Karpets is a well-established, family run flooring store based in Newcastle. We specialise in the supply and fit of various types of domestic and commercial flooring, as well as additional services such as carpet whipping and binding. The role
The Sewing Machinist is a newly created role due to the higher demand in our carpet whipping and binding department. You don’t have to have past experience in working with a sewing machine as full training will be provided. Additional hours may be available in sales/customer service in the shop if required.
Key responsibilities
- Doing carpet whipping.
- Carpet binding.
- Dealing with mainly trade customers
- General organisation and stock of the fabrics/yarns.
- Cleaning of the whipping/binding area.
- Making rugs/stair runners.
- Answering the phones and taking messages if needed.
- Assist in shop if essential
Requirements
- You must be able to travel to and from the store for all operating hours (outlined below).
- You must be physically able to lift and/or carry stock for the store and warehouse at varying weights.
- Previous experience in a similar environment would be beneficial but is not required.
- You must have a high standard of work
- Have a good time keeping as some jobs have a fast turn around
Store operating hours (You must be able to travel to and from the store for all operating hours)
- Monday 9 am–5:30 pm
- Tuesday 9 am–5:30 pm
- Wednesday 9 am–5:30 pm
- Thursday 9 am–6:30 pm
- Friday 9 am–5:30 pm
- Saturday 10 am–4 pm
- Sunday 11 am–4 pm
