Starting Salary - £27,834.98 + up to 30% shift allowance

At British Steel, we're looking for motivated, ambitious individuals to join our Manufacturing teams at our Scunthorpe site. This is more than just a job – it's an opportunity to build a long-term career with a business at the heart of British industry.
As a Manufacturing Operator / Team Member, you'll receive comprehensive training, hands-on experience, and ongoing development, giving you the skills and confidence to work across a range of operational activities in a fast-paced steelmaking environment. No two days are the same, and every day you'll play a vital role in helping us produce world-class steel products.
Working as part of a proactive and high-performing manufacturing team, you'll help deliver production targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Activities may include:
- Operating overhead cranes (pendant, remote and cab-operated)
- Machine and process operation
- Material handling, slinging and lifting
- Forklift and mobile plant operations
- Burning operations
- Manual handling activities
- Industrial cleaning and housekeeping
- Supporting safe and efficient production across the site
You'll receive significant Health & Safety training to ensure you have the knowledge and skills needed to work confidently and safely in a demanding industrial environment.
Following 6 months' service, salary increases to 3% below the current departmental rate, rising to the full Team Member rate after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance
What we need to know about you
- Aged 18 or over (due to legal requirements associated with shift working)
- Highly motivated and eager to learn
- Flexible, reliable and committed
- Strong team players with excellent communication skills
- Safety-focused with a positive attitude
- Full and valid car or motorbike driving licence (if mobile plant driving)
- Ability to work shift patterns, including weekends
- Previous manufacturing, industrial or operational experience is advantageous
