This role is for a detail-oriented Environmental Data Analyst to join our dynamic team. Working with a wide range of data such as drone imagery, LIDAR and numerical IoT data to test relationships between datasets and build models. Expanding the way in which we use data analysis techniques on earth observation data to conduct nature, carbon and biodiversity assessments, evaluating the impacts of land-use and management changes.
You will play a crucial role in helping woodland owners and managers understand and manage their forests as environmental impacts, carbon and biodiversity assessments become an essential part of delivering and maintaining a sustainable woodland ecosystem. You will be empowering forest owners to deliver an environmentally and financially sustainable woodland.
- Develop analysis methodologies for remote sensing earth observation data and processing pipelines, enabling quantification of the nature and climate impacts of land management practices.
- Collecting, examining and interrogating datasets from multiple data sources, creating and enhancing data analysis techniques, including AI and machine learning, and automating the analysis of those datasets for timely and insightful outputs.
- Conduct desk based and on-site comprehensive nature based carbon and/or biodiversity assessments, produce reports ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- To build and refine ways of presenting the data and results of the analysis in a clear and concise manner to help landowners and the supply chain understand their climate and nature impact.
- Support client and stakeholder engagement, ensuring clear communication of Arboris’ methodologies, the assessments and recommended actions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly to diverse audiences.

- A solid understanding of and interest in forestry, terrestrial ecology and/or biodiversity.
- A relevant degree or qualification and experience in a similar field.
- Full UK Driving Licence and flexibility, ability and willingness to travel and undertake site visits and field work across the UK.
- Knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain.
- Familiarity with various UK habitats and habitat classification systems, such as UKHab.
- An interest or experience with designing, developing, deploying and maintaining Machine Learning models to find value within related datasets. Developing new advances in algorithms as further data is sourced and annotated.
- Coding experience, preferably in python, to merge related datasets, utilise API’s, model relationships and present the results in an clear way. Knowledge of common data science libraries/frameworks.

- Location: Northern UK based, with regular (weekly) attendance at office in Alnwick, Northumberland or York.
