About the Role
We're a growing light manufacturing and assembly business and we need a Workshop Manager who can run a team properly. This means someone who commands respect on the shop floor, keeps production moving, and genuinely cares about the people they manage. Workshop experience matters, but people leadership is what we're hiring for first.
You'll report directly to the business owners and have real influence over how this team develops.
What You'll Be Doing
- Running the day-to-day workshop operation and keeping production on time and on target
- Hands on product assembly and manufacturing alongside your team
- Leading, motivating and developing a team of workshop operators
- Spotting inefficiencies and fixing them, whether in process, layout or workflow
- Making sure the workshop is safe and compliant with health and safety regulations
- Working with the business owners on hiring decisions and team building
- Reporting back on workforce performance, morale and improvements
- Monitoring KPI's, centred around maintaining quality standards throughout the production process
What We're Looking For
- A proven track record managing or leading a team in a hands-on environment
- Someone who can earn respect from a workforce and build a strong team culture
- Previous practical applications of manufacturing or assembly processes
- Ability to read technical drawings and understand how things go together
- Organised, clear-headed and capable of managing competing priorities
- Good communication to all levels of staff
- A relevant qualification in engineering or manufacturing is a bonus, but not required

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
