Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic culinary team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff to deliver excellent service. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and eager to learn about food preparation and hospitality operations. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or catering setting is advantageous but not mandatory, as full training will be provided. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within the hospitality industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist in basic food preparation tasks under supervision to support the kitchen team
- Ensure all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are cleaned and sanitised according to health and safety standards
- Organise storage areas and stock supplies efficiently to facilitate smooth kitchen operations
- Help with the disposal of waste and recycling in accordance with environmental policies
- Support chefs with ingredient handling and preparation as required
- Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and communal areas within the kitchen
- Assist in setting up dining areas and clearing tables during service periods when necessary
- Follow all health and safety regulations diligently to ensure a safe working environment for all staff
Experience
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable but not essential; training will be provided for those eager to learn
- Experience working in a restaurant, hotel, or catering environment is advantageous
- Knowledge of basic kitchen hygiene practices and food safety standards is beneficial
- A friendly attitude with good organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure is essential
- Willingness to develop skills related to culinary arts and customer service within a supportive team environment
Pay: £12.00-£12.71 per hour
