The Role
Active Tyres Ltd seeks to appoint a qualified and experienced Vehicle Mechanic / Diagnostic Technician to join its workshop team. The successful candidate will be a competent professional with a comprehensive knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair, capable of working independently and of undertaking a full range of mechanical, electrical and diagnostic work to a consistently high standard.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertake scheduled servicing, routine maintenance and general vehicle repairs.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical faults.
- Operate diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve vehicle defects.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic system faults.
- Remove and refit engines, and carry out engine repairs and rebuilds as required.
- Repair gearboxes, clutches and drivetrain assemblies.
- Carry out suspension and steering repairs.
- Repair braking systems.
- Replace timing belts and timing chains.
- Conduct vehicle inspections and identify defects.
- Complete all work to a high professional standard and within agreed timescales.
- Maintain a clean, safe and orderly workshop environment in accordance with health and safety requirements.
Essential Criteria
- A recognised qualification in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance, Automotive Engineering, or an equivalent mechanical discipline.
- Demonstrable experience as a vehicle mechanic or technician.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and proven practical repair skills.
- Experience in vehicle diagnostics and systematic fault-finding.
- A sound understanding of vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
- Experience in engine removal and refitting.
- The ability to undertake a wide range of mechanical repairs.
- The capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability.
- Close attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience with contemporary diagnostic equipment.
- Experience across a range of vehicle makes and models.
- MOT Tester qualification.
- A full UK driving licence.
