We are a small, family-run garden centre with a real passion for plants. We pride ourselves on our plant knowledge, the quality of our stock and the care we give to our customers.
Many of our plants are grown here on site, meaning we are involved in their journey from propagation and potting right through to the point of sale.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working and reliable person to join our team. A genuine interest in plants and horticulture is important, although you don't need to be an expert — previous horticultural or plant knowledge would be an advantage.
This is a varied, hands-on role and we are looking for someone who is happy working both independently and as part of a small team. You will also be dealing directly with customers, so excellent communication skills and a friendly, helpful approach are essential.
The role will vary throughout the seasons and will include:
- Serving and assisting customers
- Advising customers on plants where appropriate
- Watering, pruning and general plant care
- Potting, weeding and propagation
- Maintaining and tidying the garden centre and nursery
- General retail duties
- Moving stock and some heavy lifting, including bags of compost
Previous garden centre, nursery or horticultural experience would be desirable, but we are equally interested in someone with a genuine enthusiasm for plants and a willingness to learn.
We are happy to consider either part-time or full-time applicants.
Due to the nature of the business, weekend working will be required. This has previously been worked on an alternating basis, with one weekend on and one weekend off.
Opening hours:
Monday–Saturday: 9:00am–4:30pm
Sunday: 10:00am–4:00pm
Salary: Dependent on horticultural knowledge and previous experience, and subject to review.
