Due to continued business growth, we're looking for an experienced Paint Shop Operator to join our manufacturing team at our Hoyland, Barnsley facility.
Working Hours
- Full-time, permanent position
- Monday to Friday
- 6:00am – 1:30pm (35 hours per week)
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Some flexibility available
- Bank Holidays off
- £16.50 per hour. Overtime (>35 hours) payable at x1.5
- £30,030.00 basic annual salary (PAYE)
The Role
As a Paint Shop Operator, you'll play a key role in ensuring our products leave the factory with a durable, high-quality finish. Working with electrostatic spray equipment, you'll prepare and paint a wide range of fabricated metal components while maintaining exceptional standards of quality, efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, sanding, masking and priming
- Apply single-pack and 2-pack isocyanate coatings using Wagner electrostatic spray equipment
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet our quality standards
- Clean and maintain spray guns, paint booths and associated equipment
- Safely handle, store and dispose of paints and hazardous materials in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Work efficiently to production schedules without compromising quality
- Record materials used and completed work accurately
- Operate overhead cranes and slinging equipment to move components safely
- Work closely with colleagues across the manufacturing team to maintain an efficient production process
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in industrial painting within a manufacturing environment
- Confident using electrostatic spray systems and air-fed breathing equipment
- Knowledgeable in surface preparation techniques and paint quality standards
- Familiar with the safe handling of paints, coatings and hazardous substances
- Qualified to operate an overhead crane (licence preferred, but certified training can be provided)
- Able to work independently while also contributing positively to a team
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and pride in producing quality workmanship
