MacKenzie King are excited to be recruiting an Interim Financial Accountant (18 months) to join a well-established business, based North of Colchester. As an Interim Financial Accountant, you will be working with a collaborative finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and supporting a range of transformation initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Financial Accountant who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with process improvement and project work.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting requirements
- Prepare and post journals with minimal supervision
- Support the preparation and completion of statutory accounts and group reporting submissions
- Perform reconciliations of debtor, creditor and intercompany balances across multiple entities
- Produce and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisers and other key stakeholders, providing documentation and responding to queries as required
- Ensure accounting policies, controls and governance requirements are applied consistently
- Lead and support finance improvement projects, including systems enhancements and process optimisation initiatives
- Mentor and support junior team members where required, with potential line management responsibilities
Key Skills & Attributes:
Essential:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Minimum two years' post-qualification experience
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using financial systems
- Excellent understanding of financial accounting principles and reporting requirements
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to influence stakeholders and build positive working relationships
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Desirable:
- Previous audit and assurance experience
- Experience working within a shared services, multi-entity or group reporting environment
- Exposure to finance systems implementation or process improvement projects
