About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Research Scientist to join our Science team on a permanent basis, reporting to the Senior Director of Science.
This is a role for someone who has already done research in a commercial setting and knows how it differs from academic reserach. Our studies serve partners in automotive, pharmaceutical, and health sectors, which means requirements shift, timelines move, and scope is often ambiguous until you shape it. We need someone who takes a workstream and runs it end-to-end. You will have guidance and backing from the Senior Director of Science, but not day-to-day direction.
You will work across our portfolio of clinical and commercial studies, from evidence generation for partner engagements to studies supporting our published research programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the design, execution, and delivery of clinical and commercial research studies (online and in-person), from protocol through recruitment, data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Make methodological and operational decisions independently, escalating trade-offs rather than tasks
- Conduct quantitative analyses to answer research and partner questions, and translate findings for commercial, clinical, and technical audiences
- Prepare ethics applications, study documentation, and partner-facing reports
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders including commercial partners, clinical collaborators, and recruitment platforms
- Contribute to academic publications and support the wider Science team's output
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including ML engineers, product, and leadership
Candidate Profile
Essential
- Minimum 4-year research experience, at least 2 of which in an industry setting (health tech, digital health, pharma, medtech, or similar), beyond purely academic environments, with a track record of delivering studies or research programmes to commercial stakeholders
- MSc in Psychology, Neuroscience, Health Sciences, or a related field, with substantial research experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects end-to-end with minimal oversight, including in situations where requirements were ambiguous or changed along the way
- Experience with human subjects research: recruitment, data collection, Participant management
- Strong data analysis skills, proficient in Python, R, or similar
- Excellent scientific and stakeholder-facing writing
- Strong organisational skills, managing multiple studies and deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable
- PhD in a relevant field
- Experience with clinical trials, regulated health research, or digital biomarkers
- Experience in health economics and/or real-world evidence (RWE) generation
- Experience with online research platforms (Prolific, Qualtrics, Typeform)
