The RMBC Workshop Maintenance team has an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated HGV Technician to join our In-House Transport Maintenance team who supports the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet of motor vehicles including but not limited to motor cars, minibuses, LGV's, HGV's, RCV’s and engineering plant.
You will need to be suitably experienced, hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) vocational qualification in Heavy Goods Vehicle maintenance and repair, and have a valid full Driving Licence with a minimum of category B. Having a category C HGV licence and/or being a qualified MOT tester in Class 4, 5, and 7 would be highly advantageous for this role, but is not essential as training would be considered for the right candidate.
The postholder will provide a high standard of fault diagnosis, maintenance, inspection, repair, and MOT preparation, on a diverse range of vehicles. This could include preparing, presenting, Vehicles for their annual MOT inspection as well as carrying out periodic safety inspections on vehicles to DVSA inspection manual standards.
The postholder will be required to work on complex hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems, in some cases using the latest vehicle diagnostic technology.
There may be at times a requirement from time to time, to attend broken down or accident damaged vehicles and carry out permanent or temporary repairs, as well as conducting pre-delivery inspections for new fleet vehicles and decommissioning services at the end of their life cycle.

We operate a modern fleet of vehicles, that we preventively maintain to a very high standard with an emphasis on ‘Quality’ over ‘Quantity’. The suitable applicant will be Workshop based but may on occasion be required to attend vehicles at the roadside or at our other depots throughout the Rotherham Borough.
